The Woodlawn and Yonkers communities are mourning the loss of Bridget Flynn Reidy, who passed away peacefully at her home on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 62.
Bridget was the devoted wife of Mike Reidy and the proud mother of their cherished son, Mikey, who was the light of her life. Her family was her deepest joy, and everything she did reflected her love for them.
A gifted teacher, Bridget poured her heart into the world of Irish dance. She was the founder of the Flynn School of Irish Dance, where she dedicated herself to mentoring generations of dancers. For her students, Bridget was more than an instructor — she was a mentor, a model, and a source of encouragement. Through her guidance, countless young people found confidence, discipline, and joy.
Bridget was also a pillar of the broader community. She gave tirelessly of herself, always with kindness, generosity, and a radiant spirit that made everyone feel welcome. Her impact stretched far beyond the dance floor — she preserved traditions, uplifted culture, and built bonds of friendship wherever she went.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anne Flynn, and is survived by her siblings Michael (Peggy) Flynn, Mary (Tony) McGarry, Sean Flynn, and Theresa (Timmy) Cullen, as well as her sister-in-law Maria Jean, wife of the late Thomas Flynn. She was predeceased by her brothers Timmy and Patrick Flynn. Bridget was also a beloved aunt to Shaun Flynn, Meghan McGarry, Jennifer Konczynski, and Tara Cammarota.
Her community, family, and students will forever remember her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering support. As one tribute shared, “She gave not only the steps, but the courage to express, the discipline to grow, and the confidence to carry a lifetime.”
